A Gradient look only a Unicorn could love...

Heya!

So the mani I did for myself last night seemed like SUCH a good idea theoretically. But I'm not sure I love the finished product. Take a look:

First thing I did was use 2 coats of OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls as a base. Then I used a makeup sponge to apply a gradient of Zoya Robin, Milani Totally 80's and DIFFERENTdimension Ditz. Next I used another sponge to gradient Lush Lacquer Clowning Around with Smarty Lacquer Always and Forever over top.

From far away, and especially in person, this mani is so colorful and eye catching. But my execution was horrible. The chunkiness of the glitter made it nearly impossible to do a pretty clean up (I apologize for that) and even 2 coats of Seche Vite top coat couldn't totally smooth it.

Matte Camouflage Nail Art

Ok so, so far I'm a TERRIBLE blogger. But that's ok. I still love doing my nails.

And that's why, for this mani, I combined my love of nails with my other loves in life: shooting and hunting and other redneck-ery.

I have to admit, I totally forgot to take pics of this when I first did it, so I debated putting them on at all, as there's some pretty severe tip wear at this point (also VERY dry cuticles). But in the end I couldn't resist, so here's my redneck camo nails =]

After applying my Zoya Get Even base coat, I started with a base coat of Essie Sew Psyched, which is a gorgeous faded olive drab with a hint of pearly shimmer.  Then I used a dotting tool to apply the camo shapes using Orly Wandering Vine and the creme side of my Revlon Moon Candy in Universe. I should have left it at that, but I had to see what it would look like with a little bling, so I then applied a layer of China Glaze Fairy Dust to just my ring fingers as an accent. I don't love the look but oh, well. Now camo is not shiny, people. To really make this look authentic, I topped it all off with NYC Matte Me Crazy mattifying top coat.

Indie Nail Polish nail art entry feat. DIFFERENTdimension and JENsations

Hi there! I've been wanting to start this blog for ages, and I'm a bit nervous about it! I'm not sure I'm the blogger type, even though I do love to type!

Anyway, the reason for my first post is to enter the indie nail art contest on Kayla's blog!

So please, since it's my first time, tell me how I did! And wish me luck =]

Now, the point of the contest was to only use Indie nail polish brands. I LOVE indies so I was super psyched to enter! I laid out all my indies and paired them all together and finally decided on this combo:

I used DIFFERENTdimension Gnarly and Ditz from her 80's baby collection. They are a gorgeous bright green and pink scattered holo. Gnarly is the base on my index and ring, and also is the largest section on my thumb colorblock. Ditz is the base on my middle and pinkie and is on the top right section of my thumb. JENsations The Slut is my accent glitter, which is a combination on matte pink and black hearts, diamonds and different sized hexes. I used that for the star on my index, stripes on my ring, and the bottom right quarter of my thumb. I used Starlight by Starlight Polish (a holographic topcoat) as undies for The Slut. And finally, I used small black studs from Born Pretty on my middle and pinkie fingers for accent.

Phew. Well, what do you think? I know my photography needs some work, but in person, I'm lovin' this color combo! Thanks for reading!
